Census Records

Census records from 1820 through 1930 can be found on microfilm within the local history department while population numbers for each town and township from 1820 - 2000 can be viewed online. Furthermore, we now have the 1840, 1850 and 1860 census indexes online. However, please keep in mind when researching census records that prior to 1850 the U.S. census recorded the actual names only for the head of each household.
